Paw & Thread ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR).

Paw & Thread is a UK-based studio creating personalised pet portraits and custom pet gifts, printed to order. Our contact details are at the bottom of this page.
What personal data we collect
We collect and process the following categories of personal data:
- Identity — your name.
- Contact details — your email address and, where you place an order, your phone number.
- Delivery address — the shipping address for your order.
- Payment information — card and payment details are processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card data.
- Uploaded media — photographs of your pet that you upload to create a custom pet portrait.
- Order details — the products, styles and personalisation options you choose.
- Account data — if you create an account, your login email and order history.
How we use your data
We process your data to fulfil our contract with you (processing your order, producing your custom pet portrait, and delivering it), to provide customer support, and where necessary for our legitimate interests (preventing fraud, improving our products, and keeping records).
How your pet photos are handled
Your uploaded pet photos are handled confidentially and used only for layout verification, quality assurance and producing your order. They are never shared with unauthorised third parties and are never used for external user tracking. Photos are retained only for as long as needed to complete and support your order, after which they are deleted unless you ask us to keep them.
Legal basis
We rely on the following legal bases under UK GDPR and EU GDPR: performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)) for order processing; legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) for fraud prevention and service improvement; and consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time.
Data sharing
We share data only with the processors needed to run our store: Stripe (secure payments), our print and embroidery production partners (to make your order), and delivery carriers (to ship it). All processors are bound by confidentiality and data-protection terms. We never sell your data.
International transfers
Your data is primarily processed in the UK. For orders shipped to the EU or rest of world, some processing may involve international transfers. We rely on adequacy regulations and appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your data where it is transferred outside the UK or EEA.
Data retention
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil your order, provide support, meet legal and accounting requirements, and respond to queries. Pet photos are deleted once your order is complete unless you request otherwise.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to, or port your personal data, and to withdraw consent for marketing. To exercise any right, email us — we respond within one month.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies to run the store and, where enabled, analytics cookies to understand site usage. No cookies are used to track you across the internet.
