How It Works

How It Works

How Paw & Thread works

Creating your personalised pet portrait takes about three minutes from photo to basket. Here's the full journey, step by step.

1. Upload a photo of your pet

Start with a clear, well-lit photo of your pet — head-and-shoulders works best, with sharp eyes and natural light. You can upload from your phone or computer. The better the photo, the better the portrait, so see our pet portrait from photo guide for tips on choosing the right one.

2. Choose an art style

Pick from our full range of pet portrait styles. The Regal Oil Painting is grand and timeless; the Vibrant Watercolour is soft and painterly; the Modern Vector is bold pop art; the Minimalist Line Art is quiet and contemporary. Prefer the real thing? Choose Your Pet's Photo and we'll print your original image. Explore every pet portrait style.

3. Pick your product

Choose what to print your pet on — a personalised pet hoodie, t-shirt, sweatshirt, cap, tote, mug or framed wall art. Pick your colour and size, and preview your pet on the product before you buy. Browse the full apparel collection, mugs & kitchen and accessories.

4. Preview and approve

You preview your pet on the product before you buy, so there are no surprises. After checkout, our artists render your portrait and send you an artist preview to approve within 48 hours. You can request one round of revisions for free — see our how the artist preview works guide.

5. We make it, you receive it

Once you approve, your order goes into production: printed with eco water-based inks or stitched in oatmeal thread, finished by hand, and dispatched with tracked UK delivery. Allow 2–5 business days' production after approval, then tracked delivery — free over £100. See our shipping & delivery page.

The artist approval window

Every order includes a 48-hour artist approval window. We render your portrait, send a preview, and wait for your sign-off before we make anything. It's the step that keeps your pet recognisable and keeps waste down — we only make what you've approved.
